Stage Combat Workshops
Peter G. Hurley, Fight Director FDC
Stage Combat is not about combat , it's
about acting. Whether it's the clownish
pratfalls of farce and commedia dell 'arte, or an all out sword
battle, the skills involved are all within the realm of stage combat.

Too
often actors are injured or place themselves unnecessarily at risk
because proper training is sadly lacking, neglected or ignored.
Even a simple slap can be dangerous. Proper training in stage combat
is not only safer, it also creates a greater illusion of danger,
drama, and impact for the audience. For their own safety , and
effectiveness in performance, every actor should learn the basics
of unarmed staged combat.

Peter Hurley is a trained, certified, professional
Fight Director. He provides not only fight direction and choreography
for productions but also training workshops for actors and drama
students who wish to learn the safe way to create dramatic illusions
of physical conflict. Discover how delightful and surprisingly effective these illusions can be. Stage Combat workshops
not only introduce technique and philosophy, they also introduce
actors to how infectiously fun it can be.
All workshops can be tailored to meet your specific
needs, time requirements and level of expertise. A basic two hour
introductory workshop in the basics for a school drama class is only $150.00, it's a lot of fun and well worth the investment. Think of all the fun you can have once you have learned a few tricks of the trade!
